Hey ya'll
I wanted to share an experience with you that is so thrilling! Yesterday VG put on a block party/festival at a branch of the shepherd community. We had free food and set up a bunch of booths like tattoos (wash-off...of course!!) balloon animals, football, soccer, etc. I was at a face painting booth. I painted numerous masterpieces like...butterflies, flowers, and dogs! One little girl came up to me and asked for a cross to be painted on her arm. I started painting and asked her if she knew who Jesus was. She replied that she didn't know, and it absolutely broke my heart. I thought that everyone in America had at least heard about Jesus. Well, I was wrong. I asked her if she would like to hear about him and she said yes. After I was finished painting, I took her and her little sister over by ourselves and told them all about Jesus. It was rather difficult because they had never heard a thing about God, Jesus or the Bible, and they were also young (12, and 6 years old). I explained the plan of salvation to them in the simplest way I knew and then asked if they wanted Jesus to live in their lives forever. Both of the girls smiled a huge smile and said yes, so I lead them in a prayer!!!!
After VG finished singing, they came up to me and gave me a hug. I told them how proud and excited I was for them, and they told Kathy Temple that they had asked Jesus in their hearts. She was absolutely thrilled and asked if they had a bible. They didn't, but she gave them one. I got the privilege of writing a note in the front before I gave it to them. I also got their address so I can keep in touch.
It was SO amazing for me to be able to literally see the joy of God on their precious faces. That experience is what this trip is about, drawing people to God's kingdom!!

Xoxo,
Chelsea Patterson <><
